Born in Hobart, educated privately to year 12, haboured ambitions to be a biologist, but old fashioned parents did not support "over education" for women, & as an 18 year old school leaver, I was desperate to buy land. So I got a "regular" job, saved up, and bought 5 acres of land just after my 19th birthday, with my husband to be. Married in 1981, we moved into our newly completed home, where I still live to this day. Returned to education in 1993, and gained an Assoc. Dip of Welfare, and later a Dip. Social work and Dip Youth Work. Worked for 10 years with young people, homelessness, drug and alcohol, and offenders. Certainly the most rewarding phase of my paid work career. Seperated from my first husband Stephen, in 1990, and bought him out of his share of Wildwood. No serious relationship again until I met my present husband Hans in 2006, and married him in 2007. It has been a big adjustment, as I am very much used to controlling my own environment, making my own decisions, and managing my own affairs. However, after a rough start, things seem to be working out.
We share our home with 2 Maremma sheep dogs, 3 glorious cats, a very special goose and his sister, 8 jolly pet sheep, an evil goat, and 4 peacocks. We have a wonderful wild organic garden called Wildwood, which I started way back in 1979. Hans is not a gardener, but certainly seems to like the vegetables I grow, and helps with heavy work occasionally. In 2006, I found the SCA, and can say with some candour that in certain ways, it has changed my life. It has certainly added to my scope of interests, and through the SCA I have found some very special people.
I no longer do paid work, having retired due to severe back pain 4 years ago, and domestic life suits me well.
